Whilst being a TA at a secondary school, I worked alongside Ellis to support the students with SLCN. I observed Ellis run multiple sessions focusing on Language and Communication including Lego Therapy sessions. Ellis was very friendly and professional, always supporting the students whenever she could. Eventually with Ellis’ guidance and support, I was able to run my own Lego Therapy sessions which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Jodi came to our school for a staff meeting and was engaging from the start. She gave us lots of great ideas and got us up and involved. She has a wealth of knowledge and is passionate about speech and language! I hope that she can return again soon and give us extra input.

Jodi’s training for ‘ASC in the Workplace’ was great…we had fantastic feedback fro all the attendees- great content/training style and resources.

Unsure of what assessment was needed but just aware our son was struggling and losing. I approached Total Inclusion for advice of how to proceed. After listening to my concerns, Anna and Jodi recommended that we begin with a Speech and Language assessment in the first instance.
The assessment was thorough and clearly communicate to me. Recommendations for ongoing support have been spot on and total Inclusion have been happy to liaise directly with my son’s school so organisation has been smooth and stress-free. Even in these early days, as a result of thorough assessment specific and targeted ongoing professional help, the outcomes have been very positive. Seeing my child engaged and communicative about his learning has been wonderful.
We have also been really impressed and felt very supported by the Occupational Therapists Clair and Becky who have spent time talking through our son’s history and our perception of his difficulties before going into school to observe and assess him there. Once again with their fantastic comprehensive feedback we feel we have a greater understanding about our sons needs how we can help him at home, in small everyday ways and feel relieved that now the school can be more specific in the support they offer.

Jodi conducted a full assessment of my daughter’s speech, language and communication needs and provided a full, detailed report to show her findings. My daughter has an autism diagnosis and is extremely anxious in social situations and is also selective mute. Even though she has all these difficulties, Jodi was still able to assess her as she has a very throughout discussion with me prior to meeting my daughter and made sure a lot of the assessment was based on my daughters special interested. This, along with the expertise, made it possible for Jodi to engage with my daughter, once she had managed to make my daughter feel at ease. Jodi is very professional and knowledgeable, and I would certainly use her again in the future.

Speech and Language therapy has allowed our school to really change the way in which we identify, assess, develop intervention and plan provision for children with Speech, Language and Communication needs. We have been able to screen every child in our reception classes on entry and develop provision that allows us to give children the best possible start on their journey with us. We have also been able to have more assessments completed on individuals and the reports that are produced are both clear and relevant to our staff. The support and partnership we have had from our therapist has been brilliant and she is always willing to give advice and listen to any concerns we may raise. She is really part of our staff team. The whole school training was also great. The staff have been really positive and genuinely interested to develop their teaching and learning strategies as a result. I can’t praise the whole service enough. It has been like a breath of fresh air to feel like we are investing in something that really improves outcomes for our children.
